NYX Cream Blush in Glow: The Swatches!

Heyyyyy!

Finally got a minute to take some pictures and write a quick post! Yesterday my friend delivered my NYX Cream Blush in Glow (CB05) to me and I am thrilled! It's really pretty! Here are some pictures!

Super pretty!

An Apology

Hey guys real quick I just go back from first softball game and it's already 7 so I'm gonna need to do my homework. I probably won't have time to write a good, full post after dinner either. I'll try. Good news is I got my blush, and it has been ridiculously difficult not to touch it or try it on, so be proud. SORRY!

Skincare!

Hey guys- this is my night post. I've been writing a lot and right now I'm lacking a bit of inspiration. Let's do... a skin-care post!

Alrighty- so let's get a little background info in right here. I have young skin that is still acne-prone and oily, although I still get flaky occasionally (the best of both worlds, right?).

I don't feel you guys need to see pics of the bottles and stuff...umm I'll just list and link! I'll be bringing you to the official website links...not places you can buy them...

Everyday!
Face wash-

Up until extremely recently (yesterday, lol) I've been using L'Oréal Paris Go 360° Clean Deep Facial Cleanser (the green bottle, I think the original).

Alrighty, so this cleanser has a hole in the middle of the 6 fl oz that has a flappy plastic "scrublet" scrubby pad with tiny bristles. I used it for a while but it got dirty pretty easily and just wasn't really improving my skin. For my cleanser I use...the Sephora Collection Complexion Brush in Fuchsia! AndreasChoice talked about this in a video, it was $5, it was close to me, the next day I picked it up and I love it. The protective cap it came with was soooo annoying, it didn't really snap on, so I threw it out. It wasn't really doing its job. I doubt I threw it out on purpose. I love it. The bristles are soooooooo soft, it looks nice and does its job. It's especially good with my new face wash...the Ahava Purifying Mud Soap for Oily Skin (blog link here). It's a good way to lather up!

Toner:

I would be lying if I told you I did this everyday, because the truth is, I don't. Just not a huge fan. I have the Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner. I love the pretty powder-blue color of the bottle. I think it's nice. The toner claims to be non-sticky...but I find it kinda sticky...yeah sometimes I just don't really bother with this product.

Spot Treatment:

I loooove my acne spot treatment. It's called Acnevir. It's inexpensive and very good. It has sulphur in it!

Moisturizer:

Moisturizer is really expensive...I use an SPF 15 CVS Generic moisturizer. I mix in pure Tea Tree Oil from Whole Foods in for an extra kick!

Weekly!
Face Wash:

Occasionally I use this exfoliating cleanser. It's called Laboratoire Remède Energizing Cleansing Cream. I'm sorry, I don't know where to get it, all I know is LR is actually really expensive. Another of their cleansing creams is $44. I have no idea where I got this one.

Mask:

Sometimes I apply my Lumene mud mask.

My skin's not perfect. It's a bit bumpy between my brows and on my chin, and I get little tiny whiteheads on my nose (easily resolved). I'm working on it. :)

Update!

Wow, it worked! I can set a time for a post to be published so I don't have to do it on my iPod at school. That's great! So, I just wanted to talk about a few things in this post.

My eyeliner!

Today, for school, I did a mini cat eye with my POPBeauty Cat Eyes Eyeliner. I had softball after school today, and my makeup, unfortunately, didn't last. I'm glad it didn't completely melt all over my face, it just sort of faded. The first game of the season is tomorrow, wish us luck!

My juice!

Gahh I'm obsessed with cranberry juice. I need to drink a lot of water for softball though, so I think I'll be getting one of those Bobble things (water bottle with a replaceable filter built in!). They're really cool, and they sell them at American Apparel. I've also seen them at the Container Store. Not sure where else.

My disappointment!

Today I went to school with $7 to pay my friend and get my blush! She forgot it! Crycrycry. I was kind of upset but she didn't get why (this blog is the reason) and she was like "CHILL" and I was like "meh". See, my friends don't know about my blog. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be myself, but then they would want the link, and then they would tease my about my writing and about my loveee of makeup. I just adore the way makeup makes me feel and look. Sooooo, no blush till tomorrow. Sorry.

Black Eyeliners

So I don't have too much time and I didn't know too much what to write about so I looked to my makeup collection for inspiration. I'm just gonna give you a reaaaaally speedy run-down of my black eyeliners. Sorry, not too original or incredibly interesting but if you're in the market it may be useful.

Here are my four black liners (I have a liquid one but I don't use it, the felt-tip is a bit messed up.)
Ugh, crappy lighting. I'm also sorry the last swatch is smudged. Sorry for the crappy nature of this post.

The first one (my new fave) is the POPBeauty Cat Eyes Eyeliner in No. 1 Black Onyx. Sorry, I just can't stop talking about it! It's great, super easy to use, fun tool for cat eyes! If you're looking for a true black, however, this one would not be my top recommendation! It's a pretty smokey greyish bluish black (loveee). If you asked me what color it was, though, I would just say black.

Price point: $16
Where to buy: Not really sure, got mine at Urban Outfitters, you can find it here.

The second swatch is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eyeliner Pencil in Zero. This is soooo ridiculously creamy and awesome. It's a liiiiiiitttttllllleee hard to sharpen, but this is almost my ideal liner!

Price point: $17
Where to buy: Sephora, www.urbandecay.com

The third swatch looks very very very similar to Zero but is actually a LOT cheaper. This is the wet n' wild Color Icon Brow and Eyeliner in Black. It's only a dollar, so that's a MAJOR plus. Put the formula is a tiny bit waxy so the pencil drags a bit meaning you may have to go over it a bit and in the long run it can cause wrinkles :(. But so can smiling, right? It's waxy texture makes it good for tightlining, though! For those of you who don't know what tightlining is, it's applying eyeliner to the skin below your lashes rather than above. It is not long lasting either, though...the color will run down your eyes a little. Despite this down-sides, you may as well give it a try, right?

Price point: $0.99
Where to buy: CVS, Walgreens, etc.

The last swatch is definitely the deepest, blackest black. It's MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. It's a gel liner from MAC that is ridiculously creamy. If you buy this, make sure it has minimal exposure to the air. It will dry very quickly, so keep the cap on! I love mine but haven't quite mastered the technique so don't use it on a daily basis.

Price point: $15
Where to buy: MAC Stores and Counters

beautygeek0

If you're looking for a drugstore liner that is as creamy as 24/7 I would check put the Milani Liquif-eye Eyeliners. I've heard they're great and just around $6.50! I may get one one of these days but as you can see, for now I'm happy with my selection. I may get the silver one!

Yeah. Other than that I have a blue and brown liner... A white one... A cream one. Maybe those will be for tomorrow.

Missed my Target

Double-fail! We went to a different Target today where they don't carry elf, and the dry shampoo was out of stock! :(

Sorry if you were anticipating reviews, although I'm doubting you were. Hehe.

I did grab one beauty-related thing today though! Suprisingly, from TJ Maxx. I don't know if you guys have heard of MissGlamorazzi, but I watch her on YouTube and she always talks about Ahava and how much she likes it, so today when I saw a Purifying Mud Soap For Oily Skin for $3.99, I picked it up straight away. I've never used a facial bar soap before so I just hope i get enough lather. I think it should be just fine with my Sephora facial scrub brush. It smells earthy and mineral-y and nice. At least, I like it.

The reason why generally I don't buy beauty products from discount stores like Marshalls or TJ's is because a lot of time the packaging is open, something is missing, or people have been using it in the store. This soap had an outer box which I opened in the store to make sure that the soap was well preserved.

I was happy to see that there was a paper wrapping the soap:

The soap itself was a bit cracked but...it's soap. It's an unpleasant murky olive green but I reiterate...it's soap.

I'll give you a more detailed review tomorrow after I try it out tonight and in the morning. I'm concerned that the soap will be a bit drying, but I'm still excited to try it.

Next time I'm at (a different) Target I'll pick up some elf!

By the way, tomorrow I go back to school from my language trip/Spring break break, so I won't be able to post quite as much, especially not during the day. I'll try to write 2 posts a day, one before I start homework, one after dinner, and post the dinner one the next day around lunchtime with my iPod. Depending on tests or homework, I may not be able to keep this up. I will attempt to.

xx,

PS Coming up very very soon is my neutral eye look!

Target

Hey guys-

Going to Target, like, right now!

I want to get-

a new elf lash curler
the suave dry shampoo

but I will see if there's anything else appealing.

An eye look post is in the works! I took photos and at the moment I'm writing about how to achieve the look.

See you guys soon!

xx,
beautygeek0

A very neutral eye look.

Hey everyone-

Just decided to do a quick eye look for you. In the pics the shadows barely show up at all, so it sorta just looks like the eyeliner.

Here you go:

I started with a layer of the original Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Next I mixed the color Sake from the Stila Trendsetting in Tokyo palette with Skimp by Urban Decay. I packed the color all over my lid.

Afterwards, with a fluffier brush, I mixed my tarte bronzer in Park Avenue Princess with an ancient bronzey color from a really old palette my mom gave me. hehe. I think it's called Bronze Notte. I added this color to my crease and outer V and blended the colors with an even FLUFFIER brush. lol.

Next I added Skimp under my brow and to my inner corner as a highlight. Skimp is lighter than Sake.

The best step! Applying eyeliner. I loooove this eyeliner. I think I'll wear it to school tomorrow! It's the POPBeauty Cat Eyes Eyeliner in No. 1 Black Onyx. I put it on my upper lash line and a little on the outer third of my lower lash line. On my bottom waterline (I don't bother tightlining with this), I used my Cargo Reverse Lip Liner (a nude lipliner I'll be posting about soon).

Next I curled my lashes and applied a coat of Cargo blu-ray Extreme Definition Mascara in black to my top and bottom lashes.

Since these eyes are a bit boring and neutral, I recommend a pop of color on either the cheeks or lips. I might put the NARS Orgasm Illuminator for a subtle shimmer on my cheeks with a coat of my Yves Rocher Framboise Sorbet lipstick (the one on the left).

Or the other way around! I might put NYX Cream Blusher in Glow (review to come next week) on my cheeks with a nude gloss or lipstick.

If anyone tries the look, PLEASE send me pics here: thebeautygeekblog@gmail.com

You can also send requests, questions, and of course advice or anything to help me improve!

With your permission, I would post them on the blog!

Thanks soooo much for reading, I hope you liked my first real eye look. I'll try something brighter or crazier soon!

I hit the 250 mark faster than I expected!

Send the blog to your friends if you like it! I want to keep this sudden spike in activity going!

You should enter.

WOW

WOW! I just tried my first cat eye with the POPBeauty cat eyes eyeliner and it is soooooooo easy. I also got a very good picture! Double win!

Other than the liner, I curled my lashes with my crappy Sephora lash curler (must replace, I want an elf one) and applied one coat of my black Cargo blu-ray Extreme Definition Mascara on my top lashes. Sorry that I'm looking off to the side in the second pic. I was just trying to align the camera (there was a mirror I was using to see the screen of my camera). It was very easy to draw the line and then I just flicked my wrist. The only problem was the wing wasn't quite dark enough. My mom was calling me, but if I had more time, I would have filled it in more.

I really like this liner, I think with practice it might even replace my 24/7.

:O

*GASP*

Keyword: might.

Hehe...

So I just talked to my friend and she asked me to pick her up a stila palette. I got her the floral chic one because it was the cleanest...and her name is Flora. Anyways...while I was at Urban Outfitters, I noticed the POPBeauty Cat Eyes eyeliner that I wanted (retails for $16), had a $3.50 tag on it! I obviously got it! I think the sticker was from a NYX eyeliner, so now I feel sorta guilty. Their mistake, right? Anywho...it's very nice. It has tiny, tasteful flecks of shimmer and a beautiful, creamy, smoky, blendable look and feel. This color is No. 1 Black Onyx.

Pics:

The first line is drawn with the tip of the rectangle, the second two the whole surface area of the rectangle, and the fourth one I used the rectangle horizontally.

Meow. Haaa- thanks for the cute idea Marin from your Physician's Formula post.

Also, I went to CVS for kicks and decided as a pick-me-up to grab one of those wet n wild $1.99 glosses. I bought the brightest pink, without sparkles or glitter. I just wanted shiny lips, and these are called mega slicks (not a very good name...ha.) I got home and wanted to try it on. I was happy because it smelled deliciously sugary and was very very bright in the tube. When I pulled the doe-footed applicator out of the tube completely I was extremely disappointed. Zero pigment. I think had I bought the clear gloss or wanted a clear gloss I would've been happy but this was really quite lame. *RAWRR-MEWANTLIPGLASS* Sorry.

One thing that cracked me up is a lot of French designer brands have the names of the products in French and English on American products and cheap brands imitate them to seem classier or pricier. The name of this gloss is "Cotton Candy". Not classy. The funny part is that in French Cotton Candy is called "Barbe à Papa" (Daddy's Beard). Classy. :P By the way, I tried to take a picture of the product on my lips but I'm having lighting issues. I'll work on it.

Pics:

It looks even brighter than that (in the tube) in real life!

*sigh*

I totally looooove the eyeliner though!

VitaminSchtick Pics and Update

Hellooooo-

So I've been using my VitaminWater lip balm for the past few days now and I really like it. If you put waaaaaaaaaay too much on (like me) it becomes a bit grainy but other than that my first impressions were spot on. Someone was interested in packaging and pics, well here you are!

Look at the size of my nail in comparison to the tube! Huge!

By the way, when I bought it, the packaging was a little grubby (duh, it was from Urban Outfitters), but I realized there was a whole seal on the outside printed the same way as the sticker on the tube so it was nice and clean when unwrapped, without any yucky price tag residue.

I love the balm. It gives my lips a really nice shine, but it hasn't replaced my Yves Rocher reparing balm. I use that under lipstick.

:D

I am sooooooooooooo happy and excited and full of owbnbhuovnkvhgubvsjki!

I hit the 200 mark! Love you guys!

Noooo pricey perfume for me! I want the gift that keeps on giving! Birchbox, that is!

For my birthday, I'm going to ask for a temporary subscription to this EPIC service! Every month you receive a box full of 4 or 5 mini beauty goodies for only $10! Cool, right? Heh...you may have noticed I'm kinda self-absorbed. My birthday is in September. Oh well.

I'm planning a couple of big posts. One is about this 10bajillion-in-one product by Cargo. (: Another is my makeup collection which I just re-organized. It's small but I love it.

Feedback?

More Stila Sale!

Woww...I'm an addict. Yes, I was back at Urban Outfitters today and I feel like a makeup doctor.

I purchased two more stila palettes (floral chic palette and trendsetting in tokyo, the collectible travel pallete no. 3).

The floral one was $1.37 and the Tokyo one was $1.39. Have a look at them before I fixed them up. WARNING: Pretty nasty.

Gross, right? With the help of cotton swabs, cotton squares, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer with a high alcohol content, I fixed these babies up.

The first one with the deep blue is trendsetting in Tokyo and the second is floral chic.

The colors:

I decided to use pics this time because of the super glittery black shadow that just has a peace sign...like, with a hand.

These palettes were just SWATCHED. hehe.

Top are the floral chic shades. I started both of these rows with the convertible colors.

After I took the pictures, I realized that when I was closing the Tokyo palette, sake, the shade that was super destroyed, had powdery fall-out all over the place. I mixed two eye drops onto the surface of the shadow making it really creamy. Now it's dry. There's less fall-out when the shade is sealed. But once you use quite a bit again, add a drop or two more. A bit of a pain. Oh well.

The eye-drop trick is great if you're traveling with a very powdery shadow. It also can turn a shadow into a nice liner, and it's a lot cheaper than products like this. Plus you might already have some around. :)

And I did pick up the nail art polish in black.

Obsession

Hey people- not super makeup-related but I felt obliged to write this post somehow. Here are a few of my current obsessions/addictions.

TV- Bones! Ahhh I love Bones so much it's the best show ever.
Music- Florence and the Machine/Mumford and Sons.
Food- Doublemint Gum and Chinese food. Three packs of Doublemint are $1.50 at CVS, I just bought two heheh.
Stores- As you may know, Urban Outfitters. I've been feeling distance from Sephora lately. Make sense?
Makeup- Blush. I'm really having fun experimenting with different cheek colors. In my collection are Physician's Formula Blushing Peach, NARS Orgasm Iluminator, Estee Lauder Port Passion, Make Up For Ever HD Blush in Quickie (#6), Givenchy Powder Prism 1 and Sun Prism 1, Tarte Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess, a convertible color from the Stila palette I hauled yesterday in Plumeria, plus that pinky powder I got in France by PURE. Coming soon is my NYX cream blush in Glow, by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Clothing- Lace and high waists.
Other- I'm liking bows, my fountain pen, and definitely Spring break!! Too bad it's over Tuesday...

Coming up to 200 page views. Doesn't seem like much but to me it's a milestone. Thanks guys.

xx,
beautygeek0

PS I'm thinking of doing a makeup collection post soon!

Friday, March 25, 2011

heyheyheyyyy

So guys, I have another lil mini haul for you!

For the third day in a row, I went to Urban Outfitters. Don't judge! I can walk there in five minutes. Their beauty selection is limited but I think it's rather nice. They have those little Stila palettes that cost ten bucks and have four eyeshadows and a convertible color. Most of them are destroyed and have fingerprints or the pans are gauged out! Eww. They were $1.99 today with and everything on sale was 30% off so it was only $1.39...woww. I found one that wasn't too gross. I bought it, brought it home and gave it some TLC. I cleaned up the palette and sterilized the shadows and bronzer/lip color with alcohol. The color I got was Fabulous in Fiji!

Inside the magnetized case is a nice big mirror with an Amelia Earhart quote.

"Flying may not be plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price."

The colors-

r&r- light grey silver- top left
escape- dark grey silver- top right
palm- light bright forest green (if that makes sense)- bottom left
wave- deep dark blue- bottom right

plumeria- dark bronze- it's the big one...

These are all quite shimmery.

The convertible color is soooo creamy. I really want a pink one. I wanna see if there's one that's not too damaged from the pretty floral palette.

The silvery shadows look nice but I probably won't be using the blue and green shades anytime soon. I might do a look just for fun.

This palette just got swatched!

Eww you can see my arm hairs... hehe.

I also purchased a white nyx nail art nail polish. It may be useful. The wand is really long and thin.

I wasn't sure whether it was polish or a detailer but now that I know I may also get a black one. Both of these purchases together cost less than a chai at Starbucks. :)

Also...you may recall that in my last post I mentioned how much I really really wanted the NYX cream blush in glow. Well, my friend got it for me!!

She's so nice! I'll have it by Tuesday, though I might not be able to get a review in by then.

By the way, Physician's Formula didn't really excite me.

xx,
beautygeek0

PS Does anyone have an unhealthy obsession with Bones like me? The show- don't worry.

WANT!

Geez I want this so badly!

GAH! Glow is soooo pretty- and $6.50??? That's almost as cheap as elf's cream blush!

I would buy several shades if I could buy online.

*sigh*

Maybe Urban Outfitters will start carrying them. The only place I've heard of NYX other than there is at ULTA. Suprisingly, I've never been. It's kind of a long drive from here, and I live across the street from Sephora and MAC...

I also adore and crave the Round Case lipsticks from NYX.

I have a friend who takes ballet next to ULTA, so maybe I'll ask her to pick one up for me. They're $6.99 at ULTA just BTW.

For ULTA people here's a coupon. That means if you get a cream blush and throw in a round case lip stick it would only be an extra .50! How great is that?

A quick little update...

Hellooooo-

Okay, so at Urban Outfitters today (yes, I go almost everyday, you would too if you lived 5mins away), I noticed that all sale was 30% off! I have no idea how much time I spent there, but it was a while. I bought nothing because I'm going out with a friend tomorrow. There were no new VitaminSchticks, and I noticed that all of the POPBeauty cat eyes eyeliners were open, so that kinda failed. :( BTW, POP is on HauteLook today! Tomorrow I have only one beauty-related thing, and it's a maybe. It's this texturizing spray. On double-sale it would be $7. Other things on my to-buy list are:

Suave Dry Shampoo- $3
Lustre Drops by MAC- $19.50 (Bronze Everyday collection coming out on April 7)
A pink cream blush, maybe MAC's Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet, So Easy- $19.50
ELF Bestsellers Kit- $5
Sonia Kashuk Berry Lip Quad- $12.99 (That's not exactly what it's called...)

Yeahhhhhhhhh. Not sure which items will actually be in my future, but those are the ones on my wishlist.

Physician's Formula SALE

Hey guys,

At CVS this week all Physician's Formula is 40% off! I'll be stopping by there definitely on Friday but I can't promise to pick anything up because as you saw, I went on a seriously serious shopping binge is France...and you've only seen the makeup! Please post your favorite Physician's Formula products in the comments! I'm thinking about their felt-tip liquid liner. Mine was Wet n' Wild, and the tip didn't last long. I talked about getting an Eyeko one from Urban Outfitters, but I never saw them again! I'm gonna see on Friday if they have any other flavors/colors for the VitaminSchtick balms, but I kinda doubt it. Sorry for never posting pics. I've been having some issues with the macro on my camera. I'll get on it.

Calvin Klein One

Hey girls- and guys-

Every year for my birthday and for Christmas my aunt buys me a $50 gift card to the store of my choice. But this year (this September...that's a while), I think I might ask for a perfume. CK One, a unisex perfume/ cologne by Calvin Klein intrigues me. Recently there has been a revival ad campaign. I find a unisex scent very interesting because of how fragrances change with some peoples' chemical balances. Does it change from male to female? They have a bottle that is $49, so I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask for it from my aunt! I have a while, and I still haven't even smelled it yet, but I'm really excited! Has anyone ever smelled it or worn it?

POPbeauty Cat Eyes Eyeliner and Beauty360

Hello everyone!

Like I said in my last post, Urban Outfitters is basically my life. Yesterday when I went I saw that the POPbeauty eyeliners with rectangular tips to facilitate cat eyes were on sale. I also mentioned that the UO website is an utter fail so I'll link the product here. I would be getting No. 1 Black Onyx, because that's the only one they have. Besides, I'm not a very colorful eyeliner person anyways. These are normally $16 but they were on sale for $9.99. I can't decide whether to try and buy one now or if I should wait until they have one of those "all sale #% off sale" sales. I think I will because I have a black eyeliner and this is just an experimental product rather than a necessity, like running out of mascara or something. Speaking of which, I can't decide what mascara I should get when I run out. I either want the Eyeko squeezy tube one or a MAC one. MAC has surprisingly inexpensive mascaras. I like liquidy mascaras because I feel that they elongate without clumping. I'm not really looking for volume. But my mascara (CARGO) still works fine.

Also, the other day I noticed a store called Beauty360. (It's about 15mins from my house walking, that's why I had never noticed it before. It's basically a high end makeup store created by CVS. I checked out the site and it is pretty expensive, but I think one of these days I'll go in. Has anyone ever looked? They have stuff like POPbeauty and Paula Dorf and CARGO, which is nice because CARGO has been discontinued by Sephora.

Vitamin Schtick :)

Yesterday when I was walking around the shops near my house I noticed Club Monaco was closing and everything in the whole store was on clearance and was half off. I walked in and fell in love with a pair of blue chinos. They're so cute for Spring! They were originally $119, but I snagged them for TEN! Today I went back to buy a pair in a pretty olive green. I mean, why not? On the way home I had to stop into Urban Outfitters because it's basically my home away from home, and as I was traveling last week, I had been separated for too long. I always head straight for sale or beauty. A lot of times there's stuff on sale in beauty. My rule or UO is never to buy anything full price unless it's ridiculously cheap already. For quite a while now I've been eying (eyeing? eye-ing?) the VitaminWater lip balms. The trouble is, they're $8. Lip balm to me isn't supposed to cost $8. When I saw those glorious orange stickies reading $1.99, I knew one of them had to be mine. There were several yellow, one orange, and one purple. All of them were opened or gross except for one yellow! My preference was actually purple because I'm not generally a fan of citrus-y lip balms. If your lips are raw or chapped sometimes the acidity of lemon or orange or grapefruit can sting! But you don't understand. These balms are gigantic, and with their jiggly jello-y appearance, I was not concerned by its name: "tropical citrus". In fact, I think I prefer it over anything grape-y now that I have smelt it! I just want to eat it!!! It smells completely overwhelmingly delicious. And just in case you were wondering, it has Vitamin E and an SPF20! It feels great on my lips and gives them a really nice shiny, glossy finish. It also brings out the pink pigmentation of my lips somehow...I don't know, they just look pinker. You know how the VitaminWaters are supposed to have special uses or powers or whatever? This one is called energy! On the side it reads:

"please note: this great smelling lip balm only looks like a bottle of nutrient enhanced vitaminwater. by no mean should you drink the lip balm...instead grab a bottle of vitaminwater and begin operating heavy machinery."

How cute is that? Because the Urban Outfitters website completely sucks, and I can't find a decent listing anywhere else, I don't have a link. Maybe I'll post a picture tomorrow. Seriously, I won't be losing this lip balm!

Seriously, the price wasn't the same on the site, and they didn't have either the lemon or grape flavors that were in the store. *facepalm*

Urban Outfitters is my favorite store though. :)

SALE WIN!

French Makeup Haul!

This past week I have had a great experience in Toulouse, France! It was tons of fun! One of the best times I had was shopping with my friends and then later with my host family. I bought all of my goodies at a variety of places.

Yves Rocher (!!!)
A discount makeup store called SAGA
H&M
The street...hehe. A sort of a flea market.

Today I decided to make my blog more interesting I would include some pictures! I swatched several products for you but not all... like lip balm...or shower gel.

Let's start with Yves Rocher, because I bought a lot of stuff there! Let's talk lipstick. I was looking for a couple of wearable shades. These "Rouge Dragée" lipsticks were the cheapest.

I chose Framboise Sorbet (Raspberry Sorbet) and Corail Givré (Frosted Coral). I find the latter to be more peachy than coral-y.

I actually really like the lipsticks! They're moisturizing (at least non-drying) with a minimal taste and a nice color. I find Framboise Sorbet to be a great alternative to orange with the bright lips spring trend. Orange lipstick just looks funny on me. Corail Givré doesn't give much color at all but a really pretty very frosty sheen...if you like that. I have pretty pale skin (NC25) and if you're darker than me I just wouldn't recommend this color. I like it though. One was 3.35 (euros) and the other was 4.69.

The glosses:

Without really realizing, I bought glosses in colors that correspond with the lipsticks. One is a bright reddish pink and the other is a pretty pale pink Viva Glam Gaga 1-esque color. The glosses are called "Deligloss", and they do taste quite good. My review is compromised because I was chewing minty gum. I remember when I first tried them to be nice and fruity though. I like texture, you won't be eating your hair. The pale one (Rose à Croquer), essentially Rose NOMNOMNOM, has no sparkles or glitter, but the bright one was pretty sparkly. They were 3.08 each.

They actually look super pretty blended together.

I also bought insanely moisturizing hand/nail cream and lip balm- Arnica Essentiel 2 en 1 Beauté et Jeunesse (Arnica Essential 2 in 1 Beauty and Youth) and also the Baume Reparateur au Beurre de Karité (Reparing Balm with Cocoa Butter). The cream (euros, everyone!) was 3.57 and the lip balm was 1.75. Plus a few shower gels and fizzy cubes. I tried the fizzing blackberry cube and it turned my bath purple-pink. It also tinted my skin which was kind of weird...oh well.

At SAGA, which is a little store with makeup at discount prices, I bought a sparkly silver polish for 3 or 4 euros and a set of 3 "PURE" products. Polish pics below:

It's pretty. I'm planning to add another coat. As for the PURE stuff, I got this trio for four euros:

A loose powder that resembles blush because of its baby pink color,a pink shimmery lipstick and an eyeshadow duo.

It was sort of hard to take pictures of the powder/blush, but here's the lipstick in the color Peggy (11).

It's pretty, and moisturizing. I don't pair a gloss with it because it has a nice finish. As far as taste and smell go, it's pretty...lipstick-y, if you know what I mean. Not a bad thing. I think this stuff is supposed to be dupes of NARS. The packaging bears a resemblance. It's made by Carlo di Roma. I also got the little eyeshadow duo in Sunset. The pigmentation is very weak so it won't really be useful. I tried to swatch it:

Oh well...The lipstick is decent. Has anyone else tried PURE Cosmetics?

Next is H&M...only one thing from there (beauty-wise). An adorable peach lipbalm. Just look at it!! :)

Freaking adorable, I know. And it was only 3 euros! It's actually a very nice product all around. Smells and tastes delicious, moisturizes, but gives a subtle glossy finish with a hint of pink-peachy angelic color! I <3 it.

Finally, I bought a green nail polish and a hot pink lipstick for one euro each at a little market. To my pleasant surprise, the lipstick is more of a lip tint and is actually wearable with a light hand. Of course you can layer on color for dramatic or party/costume makeup!

I used a heavy hand for a good swatch. Here's the polish:

Don't underestimate the power of cheap makeup.
